Let Your Home Breathe Too

Updated: Feb 13

1 of 50 Ways to Live Life Before 8am

This series is deeper insight into ways to add intention into your morning

WITHOUT a rigid routine.

Maybe you have a baby that still gets up a lot at night and the thought of being up for the day at 5am feels like a pipe dream. Or maybe you just believe you're not a morning person.

Or maybe you're human and have days you just need a little TLC because you're on your cycle, or you're sick.

But sis, you can add intention even in those seasons. I promise it's worth it!

So, this is #1 on the list. Open a window in the morning and take 5 deep breaths.

It is more common now to spend most of the time indoors, and unfortunately the air quality is often the worst inside, especially in colder times of year we are all shouting at our kids to close the door to keep the heat inside. BUT it can be so good for you, your family, and your home to allow your home to breathe too.

Easy times to do this that keep it quick and effective without extra brain power:

  • Open the bedroom window while you're making the bed (I do this for myself and my kids' rooms at least once a week)

  • Open the kitchen window while you unload the morning dishwasher

  • When the kids are ready for school, have them sit on the front steps (with the door open) to take 5 deep breaths. (This is their favorite and actually something my son came up with.)

A funny way I've heard this talked about is letting your house "burp."

I've never noticed it making a poor impact on utility bills, and if the morning doesn't make sense for you to do it, you can always add this somewhere else in your day.

But whenever you do it, it makes a big difference to let fresh air into your space.

Comment if you've done this! And grab the printable with more ways to bring intention into your home and life.
